How to Help
Lend a Hand, In Whatever Way Fits
Volunteer
Powered entirely by volunteers
The Book Nook is powered entirely by volunteers ranging in age from young adults to retirees. Whether welcoming customers, sorting donations, shelving books, or helping behind the scenes, volunteers play an essential role in our success.
We invite you to join us.
Volunteering is a chance to:
- • Support our library
- • Meet people who share a love of books
- • Learn new skills and contribute your talents
- • Make lasting connections with neighbors
- • Help foster a welcoming space for everyone
Donate
Invest in the future of our library
Donations to the Friends of the Westlake Village Library are a meaningful way to invest in the future of our library and community. Friends support literacy, lifelong learning, and programs that enrich the lives of residents of all ages. Together, we ensure that our library remains a vibrant resource and gathering place for generations to come.
Donate and help turn a love of books into a lasting community impact!
Donate Books
Give your books a second life
The Book Nook depends on the generosity of our community. Donations of gently used books and media help keep our shelves fresh, provide affordable reading for our customers, and generate funds that directly support the Westlake Village Library.
Every donated item is carefully reviewed by our volunteers.
- • The most desirable books are placed on our shelves for customers to enjoy.
- • Specialty, academic, vintage, and collectible titles may be offered through our online bookselling partners (eBay and World of Books).
- • Some books find new homes on our popular 25¢ Red Carts.
- • Older academic, technical, foreign-language books, and other materials may be shared through our FREE Cart.
Your donations truly keep books circulating throughout our community. When you donate to the Book Nook, you're doing more than clearing shelf space at home — you're helping fund library programs and materials, making affordable books available to others, and giving thousands of books a second life.
Thank you for supporting the Book Nook, the Westlake Village Library, and a community that loves to read.
The Friends of the Westlake Village Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and we are happy to provide a donation receipt upon request.
When to Donate Books?
Donations may be brought directly to the Book Nook during bookstore hours. If the Book Nook is closed, donations may be left at the library service desk.
Because our storage and processing space is limited, we ask that donations of more than four boxes be divided into smaller deliveries over several days. This allows us to receive, sort, and shelve your generous donation without overwhelming our limited space. Thank you for your understanding and support!
